With the start of Women’s Month next week and ahead of Women’s Day celebrations on August 9, there are a host of events related to women planned in KwaZulu-Natal.
The Mercury’s Women’s Breakfast, with Old Mutual, scheduled for August 2 at the Gateway Hotel, is sold out.
The Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host the KZN Women in Business Conference, in partnership with the eThekwini Municipality, Old Mutual and Business Partners at Elangeni Hotel on August 3.
Leading Durban businesswoman and president of the Durban Chamber, Thato Tsautse, has championed this conference. Tsautse is also chief executive of the South African Association of Ship Owners.
“This will be a special occasion for women in business who have so much to contribute towards the development of business and the growth of the economy,” she said.
The theme of the KZN Women in Business Conference is “Inspire, enrich, ignite” and will culminate in the evening with the Women of Excellence awards dinner.
Speakers will include Dr May Mkhize, McCords Hospital CEO Helga Holst, Timothy Webster, of Personal Brand, and Kumari Moodley, of Old Mutual.
Topics covered and panel sessions will include “sisterhood”, “against all odds”, “an entrepreneur’s path to success”, financial well-being, spirituality, business opportunities and personal branding philosophy. “The cancer scare” and “Women’s role in the reduction of HIV/Aids” will be also discussed.
Also on August 3, the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business will host the PCB/Telkom Women in Business Luncheon at the Royal Showgrounds.
The KZN Chapter of Women’s Property Network will host a network breakfast with commercial property company ComProp at Jam Restaurant at the Quarters Hotel on Avondale tomorrow.
The eThekwini Hospital will launch an Endometriosis Support Group on August 1.
The Businesswomen’s Association of SA regional branches in Durban and Richards Bay host regular events throughout the year.
