A seven-year-old boy has been arrested on a charge of grand theft auto after taking his grandmother's sport utility vehicle for a joyride.
The eight-minute jaunt left a swath of damage through Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Friday. The boy smashed mail boxes and hit parked cars and signposts - but wasn't hurt.
Police say he literally drove until a wheel fell off - the right front one, to be exact, which parted company with the axle after the car hit a sign.
Police spokeswoman Ellen Lovejoy said the boy was unlikely to be prosecuted. He had been arrested so he could get some help: "Such an excursion is nusual behaviour for a seven-year-old." - Sapa-AP
