A destitute man who was donated a motorbike after losing everything he owned in a fire more a month ago, has obtained a licence to ride his new wheels, Beeld reported on Tuesday.
Chengetai Isaac Chauke, 26, was handed the keys to his new motorcycle, worth R9000, in Kyalami on Saturday after passing his licence with the help of the 3030 MBS driving school, in Centurion, last Monday.
He was given the motorcycle by Honda Kyalami, which also donated riding gear and helped with the licence process.
At the time of the fire, Chauke was photographed sobbing next to the burnt out remains of his home and the destroyed old motorcycle for which he had saved.
A delighted Chauke said he was "very grateful, because everybody helped me so fast and so nicely".
Beeld reported that he now rode the motorbike to work, even though it was just a few metres from his home. - Sapa
