Munich, Germany - BMW is beefing up the M4 and M3 with a new Competition Package that brings more power, improved handling and some racy equipment.

Available with the M4 Coupe and Convertible as well as the M3 Sedan, the pack includes an upgrade to the M Division's twin-turbo straight six, with power increasing from 317kW to 331kW while maximum torque remains at 550Nm.

This makes a 0.1 second difference off the mark, according to BMW's figures, with the M4 Coupe seven-speed DCT now needing just 4.0 seconds to get from 0-100km/h.

You'll feel more of the difference in the way the car looks, feels and corners as the CP is squarely aimed at dyed-in-the-wool enthusiasts. Its special lightweight M sports seats were designed to provide the right kind of support during hard cornering while small details like the woven-in M stripes on the seat belts remind you that this is no ordinary M4 or M3.

In line with this racy sentiment, the package also brings a modified version of BMW’s Adaptive M Suspension to the party, featuring new springs, dampers and roll bars.

BMW has also reconfigured the stability control, Active M diff and the car's selectable driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Sport+) to suit the nature of this beast.

The Competition Package models ride on exclusive 20-inch alloys and you can also tell them apart by high-gloss Shadow Line exterior trim and black chrome tailpipes.
