The new DS3, customise every feature to suit your style
GM's Australian division, Holden, has added some fizz to its version of the Chevrolet Cruze with a 2014 model year makeover that includes a new performance flagship.
SRi and SRi-V models get a new 1.6-litre turbopetrol engine poached from Opel. Essentially the same engine as found in the Astra Sport, the motor develops 132kW at 5500rpm and 230Nm at 2200rpm.
The makers of the beloved Commodore/Lumina SS have also endowed the SRi and high-spec SRi-V with a locally-developed sports suspension system and a bespoke body kit.
The 1.6 engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission but buyers can order theirs with a new six-speed autobox.
Another highlight of the new Cruze range is the fitment of Holden's MyLink entertainment system as standard across the range.
The system is operated via a seven-inch colour touch-screen and offers numerous entertainment functions, including internet access.
As South Africa's Cruze models are sourced from South Korea, it's unlikely that the Australian upgrades will filter through to our range. Our range was upgraded late last year - click here to read more.
