Chevrolet will pull the covers off its all-new, and reportedly more radical, Corvette at the Detroit motor show in January 2013, but the company has already started the gradual reveal process by showing us the new badge that it will carry.

“The all-new, seventh-generation Corvette deserved an all-new emblem,” said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of global design. “The new Crossed Flags design reflects the character of the next Corvette. The flags are much more modern, more technical, and more detailed than before - underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car.”

In fact, the only two parts that will be carried over from the sixth-generation Corvette, says GM, are the cabin air filter and the rear latch for the removable roof panel.

That's great, but we're praying that engineers and bean counters still had the heart to insist on a V8 engine.
