Here at IOL Motoring we like plain speaking, so we were impressed when Chevrolet Europe boss Susan Docherty described her new 'urban explorer' as a small SUV, rather than a compact crossover.
The Chevrolet Trax is due to debut at Paris auto show in September 3012; it will reach European showrooms in the second quarter of 2013, following the introduction of the new Malibu and the Cruze station wagon late in 2012.
LITTLE CAR THAT CAN
Docherty says the Trax will provide room for five passengers and generous cargo space, and will eventually be sold in more than 140 markets worldwide. She gave no details of engines or drivetrains.
“The Trax will give Chevrolet an entry in the growing small SUV segment,” she said, “with the versatility, low fuel consumption and car-like handling that urban explorers require.”
This 'little car that can' exhibits its SUV toughness and capability in a small package, she added, through its chunky exterior design and wide stance, taking the current GM design language a step further.
