This week sees Hyundai introduce South Africa to its new i10 Grand, a model that it hopes will give it a strong presence in the 'Sub-B' market where it'll take on cars like the Ford Figo and Renault Sandero.

The i10 Grand is essentially an Indian-built version of the new-generation i10 that's been extended by 100mm at the back end to enhance practicality. It won't be replacing the current i10, but rather slotting between that and the i20. Think of it as the new Getz.
All three derivatives are powered by Hyundai's familiar 1.25-litre petrol engine that delivers 64kW and 120Nm.
Although the i10 Grand is more expensive than its rivals, it does come to the party with a porky-looking spec sheet. All models are fitted with 14-inch alloy wheels, CD/MP3/USB audio system with Bluetooth functionality, multi-function steering wheel, air conditioning and the obligatory dual front airbags and ABS brakes.
IOL Motoring will be taking it for a spin at its Gauteng launch, which takes place on Wednesday, so watch this space four our full verdict on Thursday morning.
