Carbon Pack takes XF to the dark side

Jaguar SA has just amped up the Cool Quotient of its XF mid-sized sports sedan with the limited Edition Carbon Pack - at no extra cost, but you'll have be quick, because only 100 will be made.

It's available only on the two-litre turbopetrol and three-litre Supercharged variants, and it would cost almost R40 000 if you tried to put the whole kit together as an aftermarket add-on.

The changes are subtle and understated, but they give the XF a slinkier look from whiskers to tail with a gloss black finish on the grille and its surround, which really makes the Jaguar badge stand out.

GOING WITH THE FLOW

The vents just behind the front wheels that extract hot air from the engine bay get carbon-fibre trims, the standard side mirror housings make way for the light stuff and the trailing edge of the boot-lid wears the most slender of spoilers, finished in your choice of clear lacquer over the distinctive black weave of carbon fibre or body colour.

Three-litre models also get a special rear diffuser with vertical fins to smooth the airflow as it comes out from under the car.

'POUNCE PACK'

The kit - nicknamed the 'pounce pack' by Jaguar staff - gets extra street cred from a set of glossy dark-grey rims, (the same size as the originals) with a red background to the Jaguar badge and a tiny Union Jack on each valve cap - because being cool means not taking yourself too seriously.
