Kia Provo hints at spunky Mini rival

If Kia's latest concept car is anything to go by then the brand's current range of mildly desirable cars could be joined by something that's just downright exciting.

Kia openly admits than the Provo concept hints at a "potential future B-segment vehicle" and if it stays true to the design language you see here then cars like the Alfa Mito, Mini and Citroën DS3 had better watch their backs.

Designed to resemble a "road-legal racer" the coupé-like hatchback backs up its sporty looks with a four-wheel drive hybrid powertrain that mates the Hyundai group's 150kW 1.6-litre turbopetrol engine to a 33kW electric motor, which can provide extra boost under full throttle. The engine is mated to a new seven-speed DCT gearbox.

With its 19-inch wheels, low-slung profile, long bonnet, visor-look windscreen and sculpted flanks, the concept was designed to look both cheeky and cheerful.

Inside you'll find polished aluminium surfaces, a carbon fibre dashboard, a multi-media interface offering a variety of screen displays and quilted leather seats.

Stop messing around, Kia. Just build the thing!
