Lexus released the first pictures of its all-new IS sedan, in F-Sport guise, the week before last and now that it's been officially revealed at the Detroit Motor Show, Lexus has parted with some more pictures and information.

Most importantly, we now get to see the 'ordinary' models in the range, ie: those without the F-Sport trim.

While the South African line-up and launch timing has yet to be confirmed, Lexus has announced three variants for the US market. On the petrol-engined front we have a 154kW/253Nm IS 250 and a 233kW/378Nm IS 350, the latter offering an eight-speed automatic transmission.

For hybrid-heads, Lexus is introducing a petrol-electric drivetrain for the first time in an IS, this unit boasting a combined power output of 162kW and an official fuel consumption figure of less than 4.3 litres per 100km.

All models have their power channelled through the rear wheels and F-Sport models (which also receive styling differentiation) will have adaptive suspension and well as variable-ratio-steering in the case of the 3.5-litre F-Sport.
