Colin Chapman would have loved it - Lotus has built a street-legal concept based on its Evora GTE race car, with all the GTE hardware and the minimum possible concessions to legality.

Lotus built the GTE racer to compete in the new GTE sports-racing class, specifically with an eye on the Le Mans 24-Hour race; this is a serious competition car.

Likewise the GTE Road Car concept is not a fancy paint job or a body kit, says Lotus - it's a serious road car. It delivers a claimed 310kW from its race-developed engine, driving through an AMT sequential gearbox and running on ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels with centre-lock hubs and Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires.

The concept will make its world debut on the Lotus stand at the McCall's Motorworks Revival on Wednesday night, August 17, at the Monterey Jet Centre, as part of the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours weekend.

Then, from Thursday to Saturday it'll be on show on the Lotus stand on Peter Hay Hill near The Lodge at Pebble Beach Thursday, before moving to the Concept Car Lawn for the rest of the Concours weekend.
