Mazda will continue its sequence of new models featuring SkyActiv 'clean' technologies with the world premiere of the Mazda6 estate at the Paris Motor Show from 27 September, hard on the tailpipe of the Mazda6 sedan , currently enjoying the limelight at Moscow.

While both Mazda6 variants on the Moscow stage are petrol-powered, the Mazda6 estate on show in Paris will introduce Mazda's new SkyActiv-D 2.2 clean diesel engine.

The new oil-burner will be available in either standard or high-power versions, both of which comply with Euro6 emissions standards. The new Mazda6 will also be available with the two-litre SkyActiv-G petrol engine when sales in western Europe begin later this year.

SOUL IN MOTION

The new Mazda6 is the second in Mazda's new generation of cars that embody both the Kodo - Soul in Motion - design theme and a range of SkyActiv technologies, following the CX-5 compact SUV.

Mazda's flagship C/D segment car is also the first with the weirdly-named i-Eloop brake energy regeneration system, which charges a large capacitor on the overrun and then uses that energy to reduce the load on the engine under acceleration - which probably means that if you crash one going into a corner, hard on the brakes, you'll Taser every farm animal for miles!

Nevertheless, i-Eloop is the second stage of Mazda's step-by-step strategy for environmental technology development.

The Paris Mondial de l'Automobile 2012 will be open to the media on 27 and 28 September, and to the public from 29 September to 14 October.
