The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept is a fantasy supercar come to life.

Designers let their imagination run wild on this concept, which gamers will be able to try out in the new Gran Turismo 6 PlayStation game that hits the shelves in December. Mercedes-Benz is also bringing it into the real world in the form of a 1:1-scale model that will be unveiled at the Mercedes-Benz Research & Development Centre in Sunnyvale, California, on Tuesday 19 November.

Inspired by the legendary 300 SL racing car of 1952, the Vision Gran Turismo features gullwing doors and a low-slung body shell. A unique variable-LED grille and aggressively slanted headlights flow into a long bonnet with muscular curves, matched by bulging shoulder lines at the rear.

POTENT TWIN-TURBO V8

According to Mercedes-Benz the Vision Gran Turismo is powered by a twin-turbo AMG V8 engine that pushes 436kW and 800Nm. An aluminium space frame body and numerous carbon fibre components allow the concept to tip the scales at just 1385kg.

No theoretical performance figures have been divulged, but acceleration would surely be sufficient to blow your gaming console. For that all-important deceleration factor, the concept has an AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system.

Affalterbach's sound specialists have also created a sonorous sound track courtesy of an AMG sports exhaust system with eight tailpipes integrated into the rear end.

Mercedes-Benz has yet to reveal the interior to us, but says that the two-seat cabin was inspired by the cockpit of a Formula One machine, and features red integral sport seats that blend into the black flooring of the footwell to form a protective shell.
