Billund, Denmark - This remarkable scale model is the product of a collaboration between Lego and Mercedes-Benz - an almost perfect miniature of an Arocs 3245 eight-wheeler.

It's 540mm long, 140mm wide and 310mm high, and it's built out of 2793 blocks and elements, all but nine of them standard off-the-shelf Lego parts.

To get it as close as possible to the real thing Lego senior marketing manager Niels Henrik Horsted and his design team visited the Mercedes Truck plant in Worth, Germany to get up close and personal with the Arocs 3245 and how it works.

EVERYTHING WORKS

Almost every moving part on the 3245 is replicated in the model, including the grab arm (with pneumatic rams where the original has hydraulics), the turntable, the outriggers, and the four-axle suspension and steering.

"The model has new four-axle suspension, a new outrigger element, a new turntable element, and our new pneumatic system and pumps, which give you a more realistic way of connecting cylinders and hoses," said Horsted.

"The rest is all standard Lego elements."

If you're up for the challenge, ask your local Lego shop to order you Lego Technic kit 42043 - and please send us a picture of the completed model!
