Mercedes-Benz has posted a teaser of its upcoming S-Class Cabrio on its global Facebook page, which it says is its first 'flagship level' open-top vehicle since the 280 SE Cabriolet of 1971.

Closely based on the S-Class Coupé , and larger as well as more opulent than the SL, the Cabriolet will have seating for four and a fabric soft top designed to mimic its tin-top sibling's stylish lines.

As it goes with these 'teases', no real information has been released by the carmaker as yet, but we can safely assume that almost all of the Coupé's mechanical and technological content will apply here.

We'd certainly bet on there being an S500 powered by a 335kW 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 and an S63 with AMG's 430kW 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, but don't be surprised if a V12-powered S65 makes a grand, tyre-shredding entrance somewhere down the line.

As for the gizmotronic highlights you can expect it to offer Merc's Magic Body Control suspension with Curve Tilting function, as well as hotstone massaging seats and a Burmester 3D surround sound system among the glut of swanky features.
