Mini creates a Paceman bakkie!
Munich - If you've ever wondered what a Mini bakkie would be like, look no further than the new Paceman Adventure. But don't expect to see the little load lugger in showrooms at any point as Mini insists that it's a one-off and that there are no plans for series production.
The Paceman Adventure is the result of collaboration between young apprentices and their instructors at BMW's Munich factory. It's based on the Cooper S Paceman all-wheel drive model and powered by Mini's 135kW 1.6-litre turbopetrol motor.
Behind the front seats is what Mini calls a spacious cargo area for luggage, tools and equipment, although its (unspecified) luggage capacity is not going to give other bakkies any kind of inferiority complex.
READY FOR ADVENTURE
Its designers did at least save some space by putting the spare wheel on the roof rack and in all fairness, this Mini is more about adventure than load hauling.
To that end, the Paceman Adventure has been treated to a modified suspension system, increased ground clearance, improved approach and departure angles and special off-road tyres. A snorkel-like air intake on the roof also gives it some river-crossing ability.
As a final garnish to salute its outdoors orientation, the Adventure's exterior is painted in bespoke Jungle Green.
Yet is the Mini Paceman Adventure nothing more than a silly idea or would you like to see it go into production?
