338kW 911 GT3 Cup is ready to race

Porsche's 911 GT3 Cup is billed as the most successful race car in the world, and the new one is making its debut before its road-going equivalent.
It's something of a preview screening then.
The race car's 3.8-litre flat-six engine is good for 338kW at 7500rpm, which is shoved to the back wheels via a six-speed 'dog-type' gearbox that can be operated via paddles on the steering wheel.
Not only is it more powerful than before, but the race car should stroke some driver egos as Porsche describes it as being "much easier to drive at the limit" thanks to a new axle geometry.
Stopping power is improved too. There's a newly developed braking system with 380mm slotted and internally-vented steel brake rotors at the front and a four-piston version of this at the back end.
The safety equation continues with a new roll cage, a specially-developed adjustable race seat that's shaped around the driver's head and shoulders and a rescue hatch in the roof.
The GT3 Cup is priced at 181 200 euro (R2 029 440) in Europe and its price in other parts of the world will depend on country-specific VAT.
