Stuttgart, Germany - Anybody old enough to remember the glory days of Porsche in endurance racing will remember the works' cars striking Martini livery of blue and red stripes on a white background.
This year, for the first time in 16 years, Porsche is back at the iconic 24 Heures du Mans with the futuristic 919 hybrid endurance racer and, to celebrate the occasion, Porsche Exclusive has created the extremely limited “Martini Racing Edition” 911 Carrera S.
Just 80 will be made, which will be available only in some European markets, China, Japan and Latin America, and sorry Cyril, not a single one has been allocated to South Africa.
This exclusive edition reflects the styling of the Porsche race cars of the 1970s, paying tribute to legendary Le Mans racers such as the 917 and the 935 “Moby Dick”.
The “Martini Racing Edition” 911 Carrera S is available in any colour you like as long as it is either black or white, with the Aerokit Cup front spoiler and fixed rear wing as standard issue, and special livery in the signature blue and red Martini colours on the boot lid, roof section, rear wing and sides.
The interior package features stainless-steel door sill panels with the “911 Carrera S - Martini Racing Edition” badge backlit in red, body-colour dashboard trim elements sporting the “Martini Racing Edition” badge and a sports steering wheel.
Standard kit includes the Sport Chrono package, Communication Management with navigation module, a Bose sound system, a special rev-counter with a black face and all-electric sport seats in black leather.
The commemorative Martini Porsche has the same 294kW, 3.8-litre flat six as the standard 911 Carrera S and the same performance: 0-100 in 4.1 seconds with PDK dual-clutch transmission and Sport Plus button activated.
Combined fuel consumption is likewise quoted at 8.7 litres per 100km.
The Porsche 911 Carrera S “Martini Racing Edition” will be released in June 2014 in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Finland and Britain.
If there are any left, they will be made available from August in China and from October in Japan and Latin America.
