Family face for new Renault Mégane

The Mégane line-up has been given a new lease on life with a facelift that gives it a version of Renault's contemporary 'family face' that's been rather well-received on the new Clio and other Renault offerings.

The redesigned front end sees new elliptical headlights joined by a thin strip that wraps around a large 'diamond' logo.

The redesign also brings more unity between the Hatchback, Sport Tourer (wagon) and Coupé, which now feature the same bumper and bonnet design.

The models still retain a rather distinct identity, especially so in the case of the GT Line and RS versions, which have headlights with gloss black backgrounds.

Renault is waiting for next week's Frankfurt Motor Show to announce the engine line-up and other technological details.

Expect it to mirror the current range in offering a 96kW/190Nm 1.4 turbopetrol and 96kW/320Nm 1.6 turbodiesel in regular models and the thunderous 195kW/360Nm 2-litre turbopetrol in the RS range.

Don't be surprised if Renault tops and tails the petrol range with 1.2- and 1.6-litre units currently found in the Clio.

Renault SA said that its new Golf fighter is expected to reach our shores by mid-2014.
