VW Polo Vivo gets GTS dress-up

Johannesburg - Volkswagen SA has given its Polo Vivo a dose of sporty nostalgia by introducing a range-topping GTS version.

The GTS badge was used on the first three generations of Golf for those seeking a model with sportier, almost GTI-like, styling on a budget, and then on the Citi Golf in more recent times.

The same basic principles apply to the new Polo Vivo GTS, which replaces the previous GT range-topper.

Besides the snazzy 16-inch Rivazza alloys, the GTS is set apart by a black roof, gloss black side mirrors and the obligatory two-tone GTS side decals that hark back to the earlier Golf models. Cabin bling comes in the form of 'sport' seats and pedals, red stitching and carpets with black piping.

Standard comfort features include air conditioning, remote central locking, front electric windows and a six-speaker sound system with USB, SD card and Bluetooth connections.

Under the bonnet you'll find the familiar 1.6-litre normally aspirated petrol engine, rated at 77kW and 155Nm.

The Polo Vivo GTS is yours for R197 200 and it's available in five colours: Pure White, Flash Red, Reflex Silver, Sunset Red and Pepper Gray.
