Montreal, Canada - With Mercedes and its two drivers, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, having gobbled up 240 out of a possible 258 points so far this season, you would be crazy to expect anything less than another Silver Arrow-dominated Grand Prix in Canada this weekend.
While it’s extremely unlikely that any of the chasing pack will spring an upset at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Sunday, most of the attention will be directed at the two front-runners anyway, but not because they will probably win the race again - for the seventh time this year.
BICKERING CHILDREN
The relationship between Rosberg and Hamilton, which was all smiles three months ago, has soured, and now all eyes are on the dramatic F1 grudge match that resembles two bickering children fighting over a sweetie.
That sweetie is quite a valuable one though, and with Hamilton already having tasted it when he was crowned champ in 2008, it’s Rosberg who probably feels most deserving of the driver’s title he’s never earned.
Either way, Mercedes has, up until now, let the two duke it out on the track without any obvious interference from the pit wall.
And, after a string of five one-two results, there’s only four points between them.
Rosberg took the points lead for the second time this year with a win last time in Monaco, but if Hamilton wins in Canada, he will top the log again in what’s becoming a game of championship hot potato.
In third place, with 61 points to Rosberg’s 122, is Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, followed by Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, on 54, and Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg, on 47.
So far, four-time champion Sebastian Vettel has been outpaced by |his Red Bull team-mate, and also due to some unfortunate mechanical failures, he is trailing in sixth place with 45 points. - Star Motoring
