Red Bull gives you wings? It’s apparently giving Lewis Hamilton indigestion.
Having been beaten by Sebastian Vettel in the opening round of the 2011 F1 season in Australia, Hamilton is convinced the front wing on the World champion's Red Bull car is giving him an unfair advantage.
He was seen peering at the nose of Vettel's car in parc ferme after the Australian race and later queried: “Have you seen the front wing? Either they (the FIA) close the loophole or everyone will copy it.”
Hamilton's argument is that the front wing on the Red Bull flexes too much, decreasing drag.
It is a debate that first raised its head in 2010 and, following the latest accusations, FIA technical delegate Charlie Whiting has again confirmed the Red Bull car is legal.
But his verdict won't make the issue go away and an unhappy Hamilton may be right - the clever people at Red Bull, led by Adrian Newey, have stolen another march on their rivals.
Intriguingly, the Hamilton accusations come at a time when the 2008 World champion is being linked to a possible move to Red Bull next season.
And although he has reiterated his commitment to the McLaren cause, Hamilton conceded: “You never know which way the wind will take you.”
