220km/h driver was 'late for work'

A 20-year-old man was arrested for speeding on the N1 north near the Grasmere Toll Plaza on Friday morning, Johannesburg metro police said.

"He was caught travelling at 220km per hour in his father's Jaguar.

"He told officers that he was running late for work in Sandton," said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

The man would be charged with excessive speeding, at the Mondeor police station on Friday. -Sapa
