As a way of dealing with boy racers, it certainly had an impact. Fed up with the antics of their local road menace, the villagers of Lubczyna in Poland borrowed a neighbour's mobile crane and went into action overnight.
And the next morning Zbigniew Filo, 24 - who doesn't even have a driving licence - woke up to find his souped-up Ford Escort had been hoisted into a tree.
Locals are keeping tight-lipped over who put the Escort in the tree, but have admitted that a mobile crane belonging to one of the villagers was borrowed to carry out the mission under cover of darkness.
Police spokeswoman Marta Pierko said: “We received a call from a man saying his car was stuck in a tree, and that his neighbours had put it there.
“After inspecting the site we instructed him to remove it from the tree.”
One local added: “Whoever, or whatever it was, it's probably a good thing - he was a dangerous driver and could have killed somebody.
“Perhaps he'll think twice about his hair-raising driving and about getting a licence - or who knows where his next car might end up?'
Filo has promised to change his driving style.
“I get the message,” he said, “but I think it was a bit harsh.” - Daily Mail
