Cape Town - Fifteen drivers were arrested for drunk driving on national roads this weekend and another four were arrested for possession of drugs.

A man was knocked over on Borcherds Quarry Road on Saturday afternoon after trying to cross the road which was undergoing roadworks.

Provincial traffic chief Kenny Africa said accidents often occurred near roadworks and people needed to be more vigilant when approaching such areas.

The victim is being treated in hospital for his injuries.

On Sunday a 20-year-old man fell 10 metres while hiking and sustained head injuries.

The Western Cape Department of Health EMS rescue helicopter wasdispatched to Walley's Cave on Lion’s Head and the hiker was taken by ambulance to Constantiaberg Mediclinic.
