Knysna - The Garden Route Motor Club, together with Knysna’s House of Sportscars, will hold its annual classic-car auction on Sunday, May 11.

As in previous years, the sale falls on the weekend prior to the Knysna Speed Festival which again includes the popular Simola Hillclimb, sponsored this year by Jaguar.

This year’s auction will be a “Silent Auction” where boards are provided at the vehicles on offer which are available for viewing from 9.30am to 1pm. Registered bidders will write on this board the amount they wish to offer.

At 1pm a bell will be rung to signal the close of bidding.

A six percent bidder’s premium added to each sale price is given to the Garden Route Motor Club for onward donation to charities of its choice.

The cars submitted for this year’s auction include a 1926 Ford Model T Touring, a 1928 Ford Model A Phaeton, a 1930 Chevrolet Landau, a 1935 DKW R5 Cabriolet, a 1947 Citroën Light 15, a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline, a 1950 MG TD, a 1958 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite, a 1960 Opel Olympia Bakkie, a 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230S Fintail, a 1968 Wolseley 16/60 and a Shelby Cobra replica.
