'Drive with Clarkson? No way!'

Comment on this story
IOL mot feb13 clarkson INLSA Either his calamitous road trips on Top Gear or his outspoken views mean most people would leave him behind.

Jeremy Clarkson has topped a poll of the celebrities people would least like to share a driving adventure with.

The controversial TV presenter and columnist was rated as the worst person to share a 4x4 drive across the Sahara Desert.

Hot on Clarkson's heels was Katie Price with Prime Minister David Cameron a close third.

Three quarters of drivers would rather ditch a celebrity, with nearly half opting for a family member to join them, whilst the rest put friends in front of the famous.

The poll of 2000 motorists by Continental Tyres identified a good sense of humour as the top trait for a co-driver, ahead of good motoring knowledge and survival skills.

The research was conducted as part of the launch of this year's Conti 4x4 Trophy, where people compete for a place on an epic off-road challenge, driving a Hummer across the Sahara Desert.

Continental Tyres’ Tim Bailey: “Driving thousands of kilometres through the Atlas Mountains and the fiery sands of the Sahara Desert makes your choice of co-driver incredibly important.

“Jeremy Clarkson might have motoring credentials but either his calamitous road trips on Top Gear or his outspoken views mean most people would leave him behind.” - Sunday Life

He's a JOL, must be the most entertaining drive ever, most people don't like outspoken individuals,(sign of low IQ) because they are too timid, or intimidated...

I'll drive a Toyota pickup with Clarkson strapped to a James May designed "Bumper Dumper" across the Sahara ANYDAY!

I would give my left b@ll, right arm, and left leg for an opportunity to spend time with Clarkson. The most entertaining presenter on television! EPIC!

I'd sell my kidney for the experience. I've seen Top Gear US as well as the Australian version but the original is still the best, Clarkson is an entertainer period.

I used to enjoy Top Gear, and never missed the latest programmes. However, the 2 most recent programmes have been so appalling that, at times, I switched the audio off. The Chia programme was awful in the extreme, barely above the IQ level of an infant, and the mockery was juvenile. Last nights programme, where Clarkson and the dwarf parodied making a filed car cahse, was even more pathetic, with Hammond acting like a spoilt child. . These 2 need to grow up, realsie that they have a mature audience, and that they are not serving an audience of adolescents. Otherwise they will lose me, and many other viewers.

Not surprised at all. From his shows it is proven that Clarkson knows nothing about cars let alone how to drive them properly. A good showman, presenter and entertainer along-side his other 2 stooges he may be.
