While Fiat took overall honours, plenty of great engines also got a friendly nod from the 76-member jury of journalists and industry experts from around the globe.

*INTERNATIONAL ENGINE OF THE YEAR:

Fiat TwinAir - Fiat's revolutionary 876cc two-cylinder turbopetrol engine uses clever management of the intake valves to procure solid performance and diesel-like economy. The standard version produces 63kW.
