Ex-Alesi Ferrari fetches R4.5 million

Twenty-one years old and in perfect running order, and only ever driven on Sundays.

Jean Alesi’s 1991 Formula One Ferrari was auctioned for R4.5-million in South Africa last week, and went to a local buyer.

About 350 local and foreign bidders attended the LRA Auction at Longmeadow office park in Johannesburg on 1 August, at which the V12-engined Ferrari 642 (in full running order) went under the hammer.

The car went to an unnamed buyer from Benoni. - Star Motoring
