Johannesburg - There is good news for motorists at the fuel pumps this week as the price of petrol in Gauteng will decrease by 51c per litre for 93 octane and 95 octane from August 5, the Department of Energy said.

The price of diesel 0.05 percent sulphur will decrease by 75 cents while that of diesel 0.005 percent sulphur will drop by 73 cents.

The price of illuminating paraffin (wholesale) will fall by 70 cents, while the price of illuminating paraffin will decrease by 93 cents.

The maximum retail price for LPGas will drop by 89 cents per kg.

According to the department, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased during the period under review.

The new prices will come into effect on Wednesday.
