London, England - Matt LeBlanc has threatened to quit Top Gear unless the BBC gets rid of Chris Evans, a show insider has claimed.

LeBlanc is said to have delivered an ultimatum to producers, saying he will not appear in a further series if Evans is kept on as co-host. It comes as the re-vamped show has been hit by weeks of plummeting ratings, with many fans questioning if it can continue.

Filming for the next series was due to start in September, but those plans are likely to be put on hold while a decision is made on the presenting line-up.

A source from the show told the Sun on Sunday: “The big question now is who goes and who stays.

“The team does not gel at all, and the atmosphere between the presenters is decidedly frosty. It’s very much a picture of him - Chris - and them.

“Matt has already indicated that he won’t continue on any further series if Chris remains a part of it. And he is far from the only one who isn’t happy. Chris is not encouraging when any of the others are doing their links. On one occasion this month he even pretended to bump his head against a wall in frustration when fellow presenter Eddie Jordan kept fluffing his lines.”

Last night the BBC declined to comment.
