London, England - Anybody who has spent hours sitting in a traffic jam can attest that cars are not always the most comfortable spaces.
But an extensive survey of motorists found some were considerably worse than others.
The most uncomfortable is the first-generation Nissan Note with a score of only 80 percent, according to the poll of 61 000 drivers. Hot on its wheels is the first-generation Hyundai i20 Mk1 with 81.01 percent and the second-generation Fiat Panda at 81.49 percent.
Three designs by German manufacturer Volkswagen make it into the bottom 10 - including the seventh-generation Passat (82.79 percent), first-generation Touran (84 percent), and the Polo Mk5 (85.12 percent). Toyota had two entries, while Seat and Peugeot had one each.
LEXUS RX THE MOST COMFORTABLE
Unsurprisingly, it is brands associated with luxury that dominate the other end of the scale. Of the 200 car models covered by the survey, the ten most comfortable include five by Lexus - which also took the top spot.
The second-generation Lexus RX achieved a score of 97.27 percent, just beating its own third-generation GS into second (97.24 percent).
Jeep also made an appearance in the top 10, with the fourth-generation Grand Cherokee Mk4 taking sixth with 96.55 percent, while amily favourite Volvo did remarkably well, coming in third, fourth and seventh, and the MG3 came in 10th with 95.56 percent.
A spokesman for Auto Express magazine, which carried out the survey, said: “Seat comfort is a big factor in motoring satisfaction, as it makes your time in the car that little bit more pleasant.”
