New British sports car brand planned

British businessman and car enthusiast David Brown wanted a sports car with the impact and style of a classic but with modern capabilities and as far as he's concerned, that's just not something that anyone really offers.

So he's created such a car himself.

Better still, he's sharing his creation with the rest of the world.

Brown has created a car brand in his own name (David Brown Automotive) and he plans to launch it in April this year.

Promising to “refresh the classic British sports car for the 21st Century” the company is far more than just a one-man operation. In fact, he's enlisted some well-qualified help from the industry, including a design team led by former Land Rover chief designer Alan Mobberley.

The car in question is not an update of any existing model. Instead it has a completely original design inside and out, while interior trim and materials will be sourced from 'bespoke' British suppliers.

Brown promises that the low-volume production technique will combine the latest manufacturing techniques with “traditional craftsmanship.”

The first product, dubbed “Project Judi” is said to combine a classically-inspired exterior design, with the latest in performance, dynamics, technology, comfort and refinement.

“I thought that if I'm looking for this, others might be too,” David enthused.

That's as much detail as he's prepared to let slip for now. Stay tuned for a more comprehensive announcement in April.
