Following the low-key launch of the De Tomaso Deauville SUV at the Geneva motor show, rumours are beginning to circulate that the next missile in former Fiat executive Gian Mario Rossignolo's three-car re-entry into the supercar world will be a revival of the legendary Pantera two-seater, to be revealed at the Los Angeles motor show in November 2011.
Details are scarce but the new coupé is expected to have a 410kW, V8 engine, mid-mounted in a lightweight aluminium chassis and clothed with bodywork penned by Pininfarina.
Rossignolo plans to build 2000 a year in the former Pininfarina workshop he's renting near Turin in northern Italy but, unfortunately, there's no guarantee that the 2012 Pantera will be as pretty as the picture you see here, which is actually a study by German designer Stephan Schulze for a Pantera revival based on Lamborghini Gallardo mechanicals.
And we don't think either Rossignolo or Stephan Winkelmann of Lamborghini would go for that.
