Joburg metro police trapped a motorist travelling at 202km/h in a 120km/h zone on the freeway in Roodepoort on Sunday morning.

Joburg metro police department (JMPD) spokesman Wayne Minnaar said the man was arrested and then held at Florida police station.

He was driving a Porsche Panamera that did not have registration plates, and the car had an expired licence permit (the temporary permit from a dealer for a recently sold vehicle), said Minnaar.

He was trapped on the south-bound N1 near Maraisburg Road by the JMPD’s high-speed unit.

He is expected to appear in court on charges of reckless and negligent driving, and driving an unlicensed vehicle.
