Chinese car companies seldom dare to enter the extremely picky European market, but a new brand called Qoros is about to take the bull by the horns and promises a very desirable new range of cars.

The company plans an extensive roll-out of new models that will see it unveiling new products almost every six months, and its first fruits will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2013.

Qoros says its products will be aimed at "discerning young buyers in China and Europe," and the accompanying teaser sketch gives us an idea of what to expect from the first range of products. There’s perhaps a bit too much BMW-mimicking going on here, but we'll reserve final judgement until some proper pictures come our way.

In fact, Qoros admits that its first product of the range, a C-segment four-door sedan designed by a man called Gert Volker Hildebrand, was inspired by European tastes.

The brand promises that its products will be designed to meet high international safety, quality and environmental standards and will be engineered to receive five-star EuroNCAP safety ratings.

After all, Qoros was not afraid to need a little help from some big friends and its leading suppliers include Magna Steyr, TRW, Bosch, Microsoft and Iconmobile.

The Qoros brand is basically an equal partnership between Chery and Israel Corporation and given that the former has a presence in South Africa, don't be surprised if you're asked to pronounce a new brand name in the not-too-distant future.
