This Lamborghini Aventador does without the outrageous 525kW V12 engine and it costs ten times more than the regular one, but its ridiculously wealthy buyer will at least have the satisfaction of owning a record-breaker.
Carved from a 500kg block of solid gold, this 1:8 scale model is set to go under the hammer in Dubai with a starting price of 7.5 million (R72.7 million), which will give it the distinction of being the world's most expensive model car.
For that kind of money, the buyer will at least get the option of personalizing it to a certain extent as the actual on-sale model has yet to be crafted - the one you see in the pictures is simply a 'prototype'.
This gorgeous 'nugget' is the work of RGE Robert Gulpen Engineering, which insists that the golden Lambo is a very sound investment in metals and gemstones, even though the model reportedly contains just $2.64 million (R25.6 million) worth of the aforementioned precious resources.
This Lambo would make a dazzling gift for a grown-up kid of any age, but we'll stick to the R6.3-million road-going Aventador thanks very much.
