Higher international crude oil prices have put paid to any hopes that South Africa might enjoy a decrease in the price of fuel in August - in fact it’s going up, but not by much.

The energy department has announced that the price of petrol will increase by two percent, or 22 cents a litre, from next Wednesday.

The new price of 95 grade petrol will be R11.04 a litre in the Gauteng region, up from R10.82 in July. The wholesale diesel price increases by 1.45 percent to R10.26
