Normally staid and conventional car hire company Europcar has gone way out in left field for its latest customer survey - by checking the birth dates of prestige car renters to find out their star signs!
The result: Capricorns go for sporty Audi TT's and Porsche Boxsters while Geminis prefer the sleek elegance of the Mercedes C, E and S Classes.
Now for those who don't believe in astrology, simple arithmetic says that people born under a given sign should be responsible for one-twelfth, or 8.3 percent of total bookings in any category.
Keep that number in mind as we proceed.
After analysing nearly 8000 prestige rentals, it turned out that customers born under the normally cautious, conventional and serious sign of Capricorn (22 December - 19 January) were the biggest renters of prestige models, accounting for 20 percent of all reservations.
Capricorns also seem to be big sports car fans, accounting for four out of five (a whopping 82 percent!) of Audi TT rentals - as well as 30 percent of Boxster bookings. That's a huge dominance - the next closest was Cancer with nine percent of sports-car rentals.
Gemini, the curious, changeable and expressive star sign (21 May - 20 June), also looms large in the prestige car-hire chart, scoring 12 percent of all rentals.
While Capricorn favours the sporty models, restless Gemini prefers the sleek and elegant Mercedes-Benz - one out of every four cars hired by a Gemini was a C-Class, while the E-Class and S-Class also scored highly with customers born under this star sign.
The fun and quirky BMW Mini Cooper S is the favourite with artistic Librans (23 September - 22 October) and passionate Scorpios (23 October - 21 November), while Sagittarians (22 November - 21 December) prefer the space and practicality of the Mercedes M-Class.
But it seems that few star signs can resist the sheer status of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, with drivers born under Virgo (23 August - 22 September), Taurus (20 April - 20 May), Aries (21 March - 19 April), Aquarius (20 January - 18 February), Cancer (21 June - 22 July) and Leo (23 July - 22 August) all making it their top rental choice.
