Forget listening to Beethoven and Bach - if you want a safe soundtrack for your drive to work, you’d be better off tuning into Aerosmith. Researchers at London Metropolitan University have discovered that the oeuvre of the great composers can also make motorists drive more erratically.

In the study, volunteers were given a playlist including Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor and Strauss’s The Blue Danube, while others were given more contemporary genres to listen to. Those handed the classical playlist were found to drive more carelessly.

The study found that the safest driving occurred while listening to songs with a tempo of 60-80 beats per minute - roughly the same as a human heartbeat.

Aerosmith’s soft rock classic Don’t Want to Miss a Thing was found to be one of the safest songs drivers can listen to. Tiny Dancer by Elton John and Come Away With Me by Norah Jones will also keep you well within the speed limits - although the latter may cause you to nod off entirely. - Daily Mail
