Three charged for attacking taxiComment on this story
Three men will appear in the Middelburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday following a road rage attack in the town, Mpumalanga police said.
The three handed themselves to the police and were released on R1000 bail each, Lt-Col Leonard Hlathi said.
Ernest Hartzenberg, 23, Mossie Moss, 40, and Johnny van Eeden, 22, face charges of common assault and assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm.
They allegedly attacked passengers in a minibus taxi and fired a paintball gun at them on Saturday.
The operator of the minibus driver had apparently been driving recklessly, so one of the three accused used his car to force the taxi to a halt. The two drivers got out and started arguing. The car's driver then called for help and his two co-accused arrived on the scene.
“When his backup arrived there was a fight that broke out between the group and the passengers in the taxi.”
The three men have laid counter-charges of malicious damage to property and indecent assault. -Sapa
