Technology enthusiast Lon Siedman has combined two products that have sparked intense debate, not just in the cybergarage, but also on a wider front - battery cars and the Google Glass 'wearable computer' - in this first-person, point-of-view road test of the Tesla Model S sedan.

The Google Glass allows the user to read messages, as well as take pictures and record video - complete with sound track. While the personal 'through my eyes' viewpoint lends immediacy to the text - and shows the impressive Model S in as very possible light, the best possible light, it's also a powerful distraction for the wearer (in this care Siedman) from the business of driving - which authorities feel should always take priority whenever you are behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.

DISTRACTION

The UK department for transport has said it was 'in discussion with the police' amid fears the Google Glass would distract drivers' attention from the road.

It warned that it would fall foul of driving regulations that ban people from using a cellphone while driving - which could mean a £100 (R1500) fine (as well as three points on their licence) if they use it Google Glass while driving.

Politicians in Delaware and West Virginia have also introduced bills that will ban motorists from wearing computing technologies while driving. - Daily Mail
