Suzuki's SX4 crossover, or 'leisure hatchback' as they like to call it, has been given the automotive equivalent of a small botox injection inside and out.

Keen spotters will notice its bolder bumper, new grille and redesigned bonnet as well as the new alloy wheel design.

The cabin, meanwhile, gets a lift in the form of new cloth seat upholstery, a black chrome garnish on the dashboard and LED instrument cluster lighting.

Standard features include a trip computer, automatic climate control, eight-speaker MP3/CD sound system and keyless entry and start.

On the safety front you can expect front, side and curtain airbags as well as the obligatory ABS braking and ESP stability control.

All that goes on beneath the surface remains as it was before, which means Suzuki continues to offer just one engine option in the form of its 2-litre 16-valve VVT petrol engine that pushes 112kW at 6200rpm and 190Nm at 4000rpm.

Three models are offered to give you the choice of a front-wheel drive derivative with either six-speed manual or CVT continuously variable transmission or a manual all-wheel drive option.

Suzuki claims a combined fuel consumption figure of 7.3 litres per 100km in manual form and 7.6 l/100 for the CVT.

Prices range from R237 900 for the 2WD manual and R252 900 for the CVT to R257 900 for the 4WD manual. A six-year/90 000km service plan is included along with a three-year/100 000km warranty.
