Allan, south-eastern France - Meet the world’s most bizarre all-terrain vehicle. French company Mecancroc has developed a tilting off-road buggy that can go places where even quads fear to tread.
Looking like the mechanised offspring of a kart and a spider, the terrain-flattening concept vehicle is appropriately named the Swincar E-Spider.
Each wheel has its own electric motor and is independently suspended on a spider-like limb.
The articulated legs offer a terrific amount of movement, giving this engineering marvel the ability to tackle more or less any kind of tricky terrain that takes its fancy.
TACKLE 70 PERCENT GRADIENTS
It can lean into fast turns like a motorcycle but can also effortlessly tackle 70 percent gradients.
Its biggest party trick is the ability to ride through ditches with two wheels inside the ditch and the other two on top of the bank, all while the driver remains more or less level with the ground.
The Spider has limited commuting potential (there are no cupholders after all), but we can’t imagine driving anything more fun off the beaten track. - Star Motoring
