Hyundai will pull the covers off its all-new i30 hatchback in just under a month from now and these official teaser pics (and video) give us a fair idea of what to expect from the new design.

The third-generation of Hyundai's Golf rival has been designed to appeal to a wide audience. It features what Hyundai calls a new 'Cascading' grille, flanked by swept-back headlights. The rear shot shows a strong family resemblance to the smaller i20 hatch, with the i30 also gaining blacked-out C-pillars to create a floating roof effect.

Turbo-triple likely

We'll have to wait until the September 7 full reveal to find out about the engines and the rest of its technical make-up, but we'd be surprised if the range didn't include Hyundai's new 88kW 1-litre turbopetrol triple as well as a version or two of the 1.6 turbo, which produces up to 147kW.

According to Hyundai the new hatch was "designed, developed and tested" in Europe, and will offer customers "state-of-the-art safety and connectivity, and provide excellent value to meet European and global customers' needs".
