Mercedes-AMG's GT is a sublime sports car in its own right, being smaller, lighter and more sophisticated than the SLS that it sort of replaces, but it's still far from being the division's most powerful creation, and that could certainly bother the more-is-more brigade.

The new GT R, not to be confused with anything built in Japan, will be significantly more powerful than the current flagship GT S.

Set to be revealed this coming Friday, June 24, Mercedes-AMG has disclosed that its new beast's twin-turbo V8 produces 430kW, and gets from 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The GT S produces 375kW and sprints to 100 in 3.8s, according to claims.

Though other details are scarce ahead of the reveal, the division says it has "substantially modified" the chassis too and tinkered with the aerodynamics, while a racier design is also on the cards, from what we can make out in the teaser video below.
