Seoul - Hyundai's new Genesis division has released this teaser image of its 'New York Concept' car that will debut at, you guessed it, the New York Motor Show next Wednesday.

While this is all we have to go on for now, word on the street is that this concept previews the Genesis premium brand's upcoming G70 sedan, which is set to rival the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class and Infiniti Q50.

Late last year Hyundai announced that its Genesis nameplate, which has already adorned one of its upmarket rear-wheel drive sedans for some years now, is becoming a stand-alone premium brand, much like Lexus is to Toyota, or Infiniti to Nissan.

Genesis has already revealed the S-Class-rivalling G90 and the current Hyundai Genesis sedan, which is about the size of an E-Class, is set to be rebadged soon. The new compact Genesis will represent totally new territory for the car company.

Should Germany be afraid?
