Koenigsegg’s 100th: something special

It seems that on one level at least Christian von Koenigsegg is as surprised to reach the milestone of his one hundredth car as we are - few people thought that there would be a market for that many cars built with so little attention to cost.

So Sweden's richest (and oldest) juvenile delinquent is celebrating by spending even more on his centurymobile than goes into his 'standard' cars.

The one-off you see here is called the Agera R Hundra (Swedish for one hundred) and comes with handmade piping in 24-carat golf, and 24-carat gold thread embroidery on the dashboard and seats.

The body kit is borrowed from a production Agera R, but the dark blue paint finish with gold pinstripes is exclusive to this car, as are the one-piece carbon-fibre rims.

The engine is a five-litre, twin-turbo Agera R V8, with micro-honed cylinder walls to reduce friction and a remapped ECU, deliver 716kW on 93-octane petrol or 850kW on E85 (85 percent ethanol, 15 percent petrol) - and then it'll hit 100km/h in 2.9 seconds and 200 in 7.5 seconds, while fuel consumption is down to a quoted 12.5 litres per 100km.

“We take enormous pride in our cars,” says the commemorative Hundra brochure, “especially this one.”

Nothing so crass as price is mentioned, however; as with all Koenigseggs, if you need to ask, you can't afford it.
