Ever heard of a Vuhl? Neither had we or, for that matter, anybody else, until Mexican motorsport enthusiasts, brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverria, unleashed the name - and one very dim teaser image - on an unsuspecting world this morning (12 March).

They describe the fledgling company's first effort, the Vuhl 05, as a street-legal supercar, 'precision-engineered for the track and endowed with exhilarating performance'. It will be launched, they say, on 11 July at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Echeverria brothers grew up in the racing stable of their father, Guillermo Echeverria, who successfully built (and ran) GT and formula racing cars over a 30-year period, and the Vuhl (say 'vool' - it stands for 'V ehicles of U ltra- H igh performance and L ight weight’) was designed by their Mexican/American design agency, Etxe.

INTERNATIONAL PEDIGREE

Components have been sourced from a veritable who's who of performance-car suppliers, including Magna Steyr, Multimatic and Ford; the car's handling was optimised in the UK, its bodies will be fabricated in Canada, and the chassis production and final assembly will be done by engineering firm Adman Leku in Mexico City.

Vuhl has promised more details very soon; we'll keep you updated.
